1 - What is this site about, what exactly do you offer to us?
Golden T Studios is the site for Game Creator and Game Surfer.
In here we develop the most simple yet powerful game engine namely GTGE for Game Creator and publish games created with GTGE for Game Surfer. We also publish articles/tools/utilities related with game development in here.
In short, if you want to make your very own game or want to play indie games, then you come to the right place! This site is all about game development communities.

2 - GTGE stands for?
GTGE = Golden T Game Engine. (back to question)

3 - Game Engine? Is it similar like Game Maker (www.gamemaker.nl)?
Game Engine is an engine to create game, what else :-)
GTGE is quite different with Game Maker, however the purpose is same, help people making game easily.
With GTGE you need to code the game line by line, meanwhile with GameMaker is more to drag-n-drop actions.
(back to question)

4 - So what's the point to use GTGE over the simple Game Maker?
GTGE is built on top of Java Programming Language, by using GTGE you learn the most advance modern language, the Javatm, okay that's not really related in making games if you ask, it's a side benefit that affect you in real life!
The actual benefit is you have full control/flexibility in making the game, you can do anything Java can do! The networking, web game, SQL for massive multiplayer game, powerful OOP, etc and the beauty thing is the game can be run everywhere (Windows, Linux, Mac OS, etc).
The game would be also competent with any commercial game out there, this is how people create a real game, you will be a real programmer making a real game!
And with Java, a fast growth programming language, developed and used by thousand peoples, you can expect more in the future, the programming language itself is getting better all the time!
In fact game creation with GTGE is much more fun than other game makers. Please read the GTGE design standard.

The most important one is we trying to make a game engine that is truly easy to use and develop with.

We just happy for making this, GTGE is our contribution to the gaming world.
We take profit by the site ads and also by donation, you could help GTGE development by making small donation to us. (read this for more details)

(back to question)

10 - What requirements do I need to use GTGE? And where can I download GTGE?
To use GTGE, you need at least a PC, Java SDK v1.4 (or above), and optionally a nice Java IDE to work with.
You can obtain a copy of GTGE and how to install it on GTGE index page.
(back to question)

11 - Java SDK? What is that? Where can I find it?
Java is a programming language (like VB, Delphi, C++, C# .NET) developed by Java Software, a part of Sun Microsystems, Inc.
SDK (Software Development Kit) is the development tools (compiler) to create Java application.
You can download Java SDK 1.4 or higher at http://java.sun.com/j2se/.
(back to question)

12 - Hey I just want to play the games I found on this site! Do I need Java installed too?
Unfortunately yes (for now), but you don't need the big SDK (35MB). In order to play the games, you only need Java Runtime Environment (JRE = 7MB) installed, in fact most PC already has Java installed, so give it a shot first, if the game doesn't run then please download the JRE.
And of course with this JRE installed, you can play the latest Java Games on all over the world! (not only ours)
In the future, we plan to buy a native compiler to convert our Java Games to native executable, so the JRE don't need to be installed anymore to play the games.
(back to question)

13 - I hear Java is able to make mobile phone game, can I make one with GTGE?
Not at the moment, right now GTGE is focusing to develop PC game with J2SE, to make mobile game we need to port GTGE to J2ME. Right after GTGE stable enough, we will surely make a port to J2ME. (back to question)

14 - What are the limitation of GTGE?
GTGE is limited only for making 2D game. (back to question)

15 - What type of game can I made with GTGE?
You can create many different types of game, from role playing game (RPG), platformer game, shooter game, arcade game, racing game, puzzle game, you mention it. You can see the prove in our games section. (back to question)

16 - Where can I download GTGE source code? I can't find it anywhere!
It simply because GTGE source code is not published.
We want to keep the source code on our side, however you could ask us any class source code that you need to understand better and also ask us to explain how it works if you like to, or you could try to decompile GTGE to see the raw source code of the classes, we are not strict about this, as long as you do not try to hack GTGE!
(back to question)

17 - Help! I can't play the games! It show only gray box!
You need the latest Java Runtime Environment in order to play the games correctly.
If you feel you have the latest version of Java installed and the game still can not running, this perhaps because there are bugs in the game, please contact the game author.
